Stef Zisovska

January is the month when a lot of people decide to leave their homes for a week or two and visit a new place. The thing is that for most of us January means snow, cold weather, and having a hot chocolate by a fireplace. But, if we look out and beyond our everyday world, we’ll see that there are beautiful, sunny beaches around the world with a peak season in January. Therefore, if you want to change something at the beginning of next year, maybe you should try a different type of vacation and head to one of these inspiring beaches.

Beach in sunny Florida

If you don’t want to leave the country, then just go to Florida and especially south of Miami or Florida Keys. The temperatures in January are 66 Fahrenheit, which is not too hot, but it’s perfect for a winter temperature. Warm weather and occasional rain showers is what you can expect.

Southern California

This part of the country offers warm weather, beach facilities, and perfect swimming temperatures. If you’re not someone that likes to travel abroad, you know that at home you can always find the best beaches and the perfect weather. Long Beach is the best place to visit if you are a fan of long stretches of sand.

Amazing Caribbean beach

For the folks that like to get out of the country in January, but not to travel too far, the Caribbean with its dazzling white beaches is always there and the first month of the year has the best climate. Number one for the best prices and comfortable resort deals is the Dominican Republic. If you don’t want to go there, then you can check Jamaica which comes in second place. Puerto Rico is number three, as well as the US Virgin Islands that offer all the comforts needed by US citizens. Seven Mile Beach is probably the best in the Caribbean, and it’s located on Grand Cayman Island. As for the best diving experiences, you should visit Bonaire.

Australian beach

Bondi and Manly beaches near Sydney are the best for surfing. Byron Bay, between Sydney and Brisbane, is the best for the those looking for a neo-hippie beach scene. Noosa Heads and Sunshine Coast are also good for surfing, lying in the soft sand or exploring the parks. Fraser Island is famous for its pure white sand and the freshwater lake McKenzie. All these places have warm weather in January.

Beach in Mexico

Mexico has a massive coastline full of amazingly beautiful beaches, and most of them have perfect summer temperatures in January. Both the Pacific Coast and the Caribbean beaches in Mexico have temperatures around 80 Fahrenheit during this time. Cabo San Lucas, Ixtapa, Playa Escondido or Cancun and Playa del Carmen, it’s your choice. The beginning of January is still a bit expensive and crowded, while the second half is better if you want to find cheap deals. Day trips from Riviera Maya beaches are perfect for everybody who likes to go snorkeling and diving.
